M D (Mike) Constable was, appropriately, another GP - in Saltburn. From being a complete beginner he rapidly developed into a very skilful and successful photographer - not only in the Society but much wider afield, winning some very significant and highly valuable prizes. He won the McKenna trophy for 35mm slides 11 times in a spell covering 18 seasons. His widow, Marion, donated the Michael Constable trophy for The Natural World - the polar bear thereon being a constant reminder of a prestigious competition he won.
